I am hoping to see lots of old familiar faces and some new faces during this year’s reunion.

What should you expect if you come? ( and I hope hundreds of you will)

I guess that the first thing that might come to mind is a “sleeping giant”..

The campus is getting very quiet…..it is lonely but lovely.  Often these days you will see folks strolling or dogwalking across campus or even lost rollerbladers or bikers from the bike trail nearby who find some of the benches…simply nice and irresistable resting places.

I would imagine the grass will be mowed for the most part…..although several folks have opted for early departure which means..staffing is slim and it takes awhile to cut our parklike lawns.  and within a couple of fortnights we will be down to a skeletal staff of 9 or 10……which includea The Antioch Review and a couple of Glen Helen people.

The power plant will be off…..but Aimee has found a wonderful luxurious upscale porta potty for the masses…..which includes amenities like basins, mirrors….ac it reminds me of a set up I saw at a State Park in Charleston South Carolina….

You should expect a large revival tent!!!

You should expect lots of passionate Antiochians of varying vintages and varying viewpoints on how to move forward.  and who also have great lifestories to share..

You should expect a daytime average high of 82 and a nighttime low of 62. but know Ohio weather can be cooler or hotter.  Sunsets after 9PM !!!

You should expect a slighly more upscale downtown YS than you remember….and can find great eats…and great cups of coffee…ah civilization.

And YS still retains that slightly left of center weltanschaueng…..art galleries, second hand stores, green living stores….. and some old Pete Seeger types…and peacniks, quakers and hippy like types…maybe a few punkers too.

and there are 1,000’s  of acres of greenspace for a a partial getaway..Glen Helen, John Bryan and the Gorge. And beware…they have put snapping turtles in the pool below the cascades…….no jumping in…or watch yer toes and the ranger

As usual you should expect to rewind, unwind or get wound up.    Of course…brainstorming will happen and hopefully you would expect to be involved there.

Box lunches from the emporium btw…are usually fairly tasty and also well presented……expect them to be tasty.

Reunions tees are pretty nice and I expect to get at least one….

Finally you should expect to have a great weekend that is slightly to the left of exciting.

We need everyone’s brains and hopefully their hearts.
